My Hope Blanket

By: Sara McDermott Piercy

I started it a few months ago after going through our third miscarriage last year. The first two miscarriages were pretty early on, but that last one was a lot longer. I knew it was a girl. We didn’t actually “know”, but...I knew. You moms know what I’m talking about.

So, I started this blanket in anticipation of our future third (technically 6th) little baby. If I was down...I’d go to the blanket. I say it in past tense, but mourning comes in waves. So some days I still go to the blanket feeling a little bit down. But when I work on it, I pray for that little life and I’m immediately uplifted. I pray for a full and healthy pregnancy. I thank the Lord for the two healthy babies that we already have. And I think about those three little ones in Heaven. It’s my Hope Blanket.

It’s not perfect at all, but it’s something that will help me remember how I trusted in Him during the valley and waited expectantly for the future. I can’t wait to take a picture of that future little baby in this blanket and post it for the world to see a tangible image of God’s faithfulness.
