There is a Joy to come

Who for the joy that was set before Him, endured the cross. Hebrews 12:2
“For the joy that set before Him” What a powerful statement. When Jesus came into this world, He knew He would die. He knew His plot in this world would lead Him to a gruesome death. However, He also knew that through His death, He would also bring life. There would be life for YOU, for me and for anyone who believed on Him. Therefore, Jesus endured pain, rejection and shame. Jesus endured the toughest moment in human history because there was joy in reuniting mankind with the Father, completing the task that the Father sent Him to accomplish, and being reunited with the presence of the Father Himself.
Jesus had an eternal perspective. In our world, it is so easy to focus on the here and now. It’s easy to be consumed by the pain and pressure. However, I submit to you that we take an eternal perspective in the midst of our trials. There are some trials and pain in this sinful world that we cannot avoid. However, when we look through eyes of faith, we can trust that our God will work all of these painful and hard things together for the good of those who love Him. Therefore, we can press through the temporal pain knowing that our eternal God has our tears in the palm of His hands and will carry us through every situation.
On special days, like Mother’s Day, there are Mothers all over the world who are faced with the pain and heartbreak of children who have left this earth. Although no one can deny the pain, I encourage you to press through the pain and realize that because Jesus Christ endured the cross, there is a future joy for us who have placed our faith in Him. There is a joy that one day we will be reunited with our children and we will see our Savior face to face!
So this Mother’s Day, and every hard day afterwards, let our perspective be an eternal one. We know there is a hope in Christ and a joy to come!
